We Are Still Here. Seriously.

Wait a second… I have a website? No way!
… I apologize for totally abandoning my website over the last couple of months. I’ve been buried in work at the office and when I come home at night, the last thing I want to look at is a computer.
What’s new in the lives of the Kirks? Well, let me see if I can put together an itemized list:
1) Sofie’s doing well. She’s just about 6 months old now and recently endured her “girl operation”. She made it through quite well and just a few days later she was back to her regular, crazy self.
2) Alicia’s Birthday is coming up on the 20th of March. She’ll be turning 24 years old and she’s totally beside herself about it. ;)
3) I’m getting pretty burned out at work. I’m putting in between 55-60 hours a week (and getting paid for 37.25 of them!) and it’s catching up to me. 2 major components of our project will be behind us at the end of April and I’m hoping that’s the beginning of our stabilization period. Maybe then I can cut the hours back a bit.
4) Alicia and I are heading to Mexico in early May, mostly because of point #3. I need a vacation so Alicia did some digging and found a really nice resort in Playa Del Carmen (just south of Cancun) called La Tortuga. We decided to finally cash in my 120,000 VISA points so we got our flight essentially for free (we had to pay the tax) which will help us financially speaking. Should be a great time! We won’t drink the water, don’t worry about it.
5) Our cars are doing well. Alicia has about 16,000km on her Honda Fit and it’s still purring like a kitten. We drove that little car through some really bad weather this year and it really handled itself well. My Versa has about 13,000km on it and it’s also doing quite well. I recently had it in for its first service and everything checked out alright.
6) On the friends side of the equation, Alicia and I have been spending a lot of time with my boss Christian and his wife Deirdre of late. We’ve been rotating back and forth on Thursday nights between their place and ours. We’ll put together a nice meal, sit around and chat and top off the evening with “Grey’s Anatomy”. It’s pretty scary how much Christian and I are alike (from personality to background) and the same can be said for Deirdre and Alicia.
7) Looks like we’re going to be staying at our nice little house in Fonthill, Ontario for awhile longer. We’ve become quite disenchanted with the process and when our contract expires with the real-estate agent at the end of March we’re going to take some time off. The way my career is progressing there’s a chance that I might need to work out of Toronto at some point in the future as well, so we may want to stick it out here until a) we have two kids and REALLY need more space or b) I’m offered a better job that requires I work downtown which would necessitate a move in that general direction.
Alright. That’s enough information for one post. Take care everyone.
