Rant: No Respect

It amazes me how little respect most people have for the property of others. In this specific example of the stupidity and insensitivity of others, we’ll talk about my Honda Accord.

I’ve had the car since November of 2002 and the following damage has been done to it since then:

• Dent: Rear quarter panel on the passenger side
• Dent/Scratch: Driver’s side rear door
• Scratch: Driver’s side rear door
• Stolen: Rear Honda Emblem (noticed that this morning)

If and when I get a new car, I’ll be the guy that parks on the other side of the parking lot away from everyone else. The first three items above were done in parking lots by stupid people who don’t pay any attention when getting in and out of their cars. I’m guessing in two of the three mishaps, the person didn’t even notice (maybe it was a child). In the other, I’d be willing to bet the person noticed the damage and just left.

As far as the most recent damage, my stolen rear Honda Emblem… this drives me nuts. Some teenager took a knife and just popped it off for what purpose? A collection? Fortunately, it’s only going to cost me 20 dollars to replace that.

I just don’t understand why people are so careless when it comes to the property of others. Sigh.
