An Unfortunate Accident

My family endures something that we refer to as “Kirk Luck” on a semi-regular basis. We’re of the belief that if we didn’t have bad luck, we wouldn’t have any at all. Apparently it extends to those who marry into our family as well.
On Wednesday evening, Alicia and I were in her beautiful new car driving to Walmart to pick up an item or two. Just after we turned onto Woodlawn Road in Welland (approximately 1-2 km from our house), a teenager backed out of a driveway and across a lane of traffic without looking. The back corner of his 1994 Ford Ranger slammed into Alicia’s door and then proceeded to scrape right down the side of the vehicle. Fortunately the airbags didn’t deploy and we were unharmed.
It’s just slightly depressing to have a beautiful new car for 2 weeks only to have it damaged in such a stupid accident. The other driver received a ticket for his actions so from an insurance perspective, this is pretty cut and dry. The car is at the body shop and Alicia is driving around in a rental.
Hopefully in a week or two we won’t even be able to tell that something happened to her car.
