Not Fat, But Losing Weight Anyways

When I graduated high school, I was about 6’7” tall and I tipped the scales at a dainty 175lbs. Needless to stay I was skinny as a rail. During college I finally filled out and ended up at an ideal weight of 205lbs. This was a very comfortable weight for me. I didn’t look skinny but I was still slim and trim.

Then something weird happened; after I turned 25 I discovered that there were consequences to my eating habits. My metabolism couldn’t keep up with my diet of pepsi, junk food, and sweets. Also, I started dating a girl who’s family loved to cook and watch me eat…..

Needless to say I started gaining weight and over Christmas I reached 230lbs. The heaviest I’ve ever been in my life. I didn’t like it. My 36” waist pants were starting to tighten up and I was teetering on the need for a 38” waist. That was my breaking point and I cut out sweets, snacks and I started eating smaller portions at mealtime. Thankfully I have an amazing wife who’s also an excellent cook. She altered her cooking tendencies to accomodate my desire for weight loss.

A month later, I’m down 15lbs! Those 36” waist pants fit better and I feel better. It’s actually been quite easy. Soon enough I’ll be back down to 205-210lbs and I can work on maintaining that weight. Anyone can lose weight, it just takes self-control.
