Weekend Update

I haven’t posted in awhile, so I thought I’d blitz you all with a long weekend update. This past Friday I packed up Ollie and headed down to Pennslyvania to spend the weekend with her and her folks. The only plans we really had going into the weekend were to attend the Meadville Halloween parade, which apparently is the largest in the whole state.

We didn’t stay downtown very long for the Parade. We saw a few floats going by, and stopped by a Halloween party thrown by friends of Alicia’s parents. All-in-all, we had a good time. We bought Ollie a funny red t-shirt earlier that day and the Parade gave us an opportunity to take the little guy out in public and show him off in his new duds. I’m sure I’ll have pictures of him in his new shirt up soon enough.

On Saturday afternoon, Alicia and I drove up to Erie to run some errands and possibly catch a show. The movie we ended up seing was The Grudge. Now, Alicia says that she really enjoys scary movies, but she really gets scared. To the point that she’ll have nightmares and be freaked out for days. The Ring messed her up for quite awhile and I honestly didn’t think that The Grudge would be even worse… but it was. This movie is freakin’ scary with an extra dose of creepy. I refuse to explain it, but I definitely endorse it if you’re in the mood for a good scare.

On Sunday we watched one of the best football games I’ve seen in quite some time. The Steelers were facing the New England Patriots who were working on a 21-game winning streak. They hadn’t lost in 399 days! The Steelers came out firing and really took it to the Patriots. The game was awesome. Brady was sacked several times, Townsend returned an interception for a touchdown and Ben Roethlisberger continued his winning streak to start his career. He’s now 5-0 as a starter, a remarkable accomplishment for a rookie who all of the experts said would need considerable seasoning before he would make an impact in the NFL. He’s proving everyone wrong by completing 70% of his passes (60% is considered great) and keeping his Quarterback Rating over 100. Of course, he’s in an ideal situation. Duce Staley is running the ball really well and that helps take the heat off the young Quarterback. I’m not ready to start talking about the Super Bowl, but it looks like we’ll be going back to the Playoffs this year! Go Steelers!

I guess I should mention that tomorrow is the Presidential Election in the United States which always ends up being a controversy-filled, media circus. Who would I vote for? Well, I’m not telling. Of course, now that the Washington Redskins have LOST their last home game before the Federal Election, the incumbant will not win the election. This statistic has held true since 1944, if you can believe it. You can vote in my poll to the left on who you’d vote for if you got the chance.
