Championship Sunday: My Picks

That’s right folks, again it is time for Jim to unveil his weekend football picks. I know you’ve all been losing sleep in anticipation…

In the NFC Championship game featuring the Philadelphia Eagles and the St.Louis Rams, I will play the odds and run with the Rams. The Eagles have a great team with a fantastic young quarterback and a marvelous defense but what it comes down to is this: a) The Rams are going to score points regardless of who they’re facing and b) They’re defense has been playing amazing ball, really beyond their capabilities (credit Lovey Smith).

In the AFC Championship game featuring the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots, I will take the Steelers in a romp. Smith isn’t going to be able to run the football against the Steelers defense and Tom Brady is going to end up on the ground more than once as a result of the unusual blitz packages that the Steelers will be throwing at them. They’re too fast on the defensive side of the ball.
